There are many kind of verb tense on English language, the function of verb tense is to tells us when a person did something or when something existed or happened. The main three tenses are present, past, and future. Every three of them have many variation with differential function. Here's 9 variation of verb tenses.
Simple Present Tense
Simple present tense have two main function, which is to describe an event that happening right now or happend regularly.
Example 1: I feel great! Pauline loves pie. I’m sorry to hear that you’re sick.
Example 2: Pauline practices the piano every day. Ms. Jackson travels during the summer. Hamsters run all night.
Past Tense
Past tense have function to describe an event that happend in the past but is now finished
Example 1: He used to work in Bahrain for six months.
Example 2: She ate lunch at KFC yesterday.
Present Continuous Tense
Used to describe a continued or an on-going action of the present
Example 1: He is drinking cola.
Example 2: They are playing soccer.
Past Continuous Tense
Used to describe or mention an on-going action of the past.
Example 1: She was waiting for me.
Example 2: She was making preparation for cooking.
Present Perfect Tense
Used to express an action that occured or completed at somepoint in the past.
Example 1: He have eaten his meal.
Example 2: He has bought the wedding ring.
Present Perfect Continuous Tense
Used to express an action that happend in the past and continued to present or recenlty stopped.
Example 1: She has been playing piano for two hours.
Example 2: I have not been eating for 8 hours.
Past Perfect Tense
Used to express two kind of actions which occured or completed in the past.
Example 1: He had earned a lot of score.
Example 2: They had bough a new jersey/
Past Perfect Continuous Tense
Used to describe an on-going event that started in the past and continued for some time in the past.
Example 1: I had been applying for jobs since August 2015.
Example 2: He had not been playing soccer since December 2015.
Future Tense
Used to express an action that occur or happen in the future.
Example 1: My Mom will give me a glasses next month.
Example 2: She will not come to stadium.
